Hi! I'm Emily Waechtler, wife, mother, seamstress, home school teacher, and surfer. Blue is my favorite color. Corduroy, to me, is my 1970's childhood and all things casual. Blue Corduroy is the line after line of swells in the ocean about to become waves.
My love of nature inspires me to make hats for babies, kids and women for all seasons. By making cute and functional hats to protect your eyes and skin from the sun and elements I get to be a part of encouraging people of all ages to get outside and enjoy themselves.
I started this blog in 2008 when my girls were just little, and I was beginning my handmade online shop. My mom taught me to sew clothes for my baby dolls when I was six, I have a degree in costume design from UC Santa Cruz, and I repaired wetsuits for O'neill Surfshop.
This blog is about my life as a handmade shop owner with my husband and our 2 daughters, who we home school, living simply on the Central Coast of California spending much of our time at the beach and laughing together. If you're interested in hearing more about our homeschool journey, check out my podcast project Everyday Porridge, where Toni Weber and I share our phone conversations to encourage and inspire.
I would love to meet you and hear your story! You can contact me at firstname.lastname@example.org.
